The Aveiro Lagoon, also known as the “Ria de Aveiro,” is considered one of the most versatile kitesurfing spots in Europe. Protected by offshore sandbanks, it offers flat water and consistent wind conditions – ideal for beginners, freestylers, and freeriders. The region benefits from Portugal’s northerly wind stream (“Nortada”), which brings steady winds of 15 to 25 knots from May to September.
In addition to safety and plenty of space on the water, Aveiro impresses with its stunning natural scenery: endless beaches, colorful fishing boats, and the charming city center just minutes from the spot. Water temperatures are pleasantly mild – between 18°C and 22°C in summer – allowing for lighter wetsuits.
Another highlight: with our own boats and equipment, we can offer downwinders of various lengths – perfect for experiencing the lagoon and surrounding coastline in a unique way. We also work with the latest Flysurfer gear, which you can not only use in our lessons but also test yourself on-site.

Experience it for yourself: at our MyWay Kitesurf School in Aveiro, we offer tailored courses for beginners and advanced riders, high-quality equipment, and a complete package with accommodation and bar right at the spot.
Book your kitesurfing course now and discover why Aveiro will become your next favorite kitesurfing destination – including exclusive downwinder adventures!
